A wedding that wasn’t legally a wedding but looked exactly like a wedding. That’s what happened in October 2022 at Stratton Court Barn. It was a the English leg of the celebration in union of the wonderful Katherine and Jamie, who a few months prior got legally married in Vancouver, Canada.
The traditional pre-wedding routine of bride and groom getting ready separately was non-existent in this case. It was a super chilled out morning of family gathering together in the stables at Stratton Court Barn while make up and hair were being perfected for the wedding party. Once all the guests had arrived, it was time for the celebration to take place in the Main Barn itself. It is a wonderfully restored indoor space which is flooded by natural light on both sides complete with its wooded beams and traditional high oak ceiling. It really does put the ‘Barn’ in Stratton Court Barn.
Katherine and Jamie walked together with purpose and smiles down the aisle, flanked by an enthusiastic wedding party giving the old whoops and whistles. The vows and the readings made for a wonderful ceremony, and if there was a dry eye in Stratton Court Barn that day then I think they were probably paying too much attention to the exquisite brickwork and beams and not the vows and readings themselves.
The immense courtyard outside played host to the reception drinks and the group shots. Meanwhile, the children in attendance took full advantage by racing in and around the knees of the wedding guests. Thankfully no precious alcohol was spilled as a result.
After the usual wedding breakfast and speeches, Stratton Court Barn was then invaded by a band so big it would make Blazin’ Squad look like your average sized pop group. This transitioned us to the evening events where the Oxfordshire countryside was blessed with the sound of dance floor bangers where the trumpeters got so excited they made their way onto the dance floor too!
An amazing venue for an amazing couple, Stratton Court Barn really brought the vibes in the October sunshine.
